                         Prieto and Miller Win 2016 Watertown Open

Adolfo Prieto of Watertown and Michael Miller of Southern Oswego County tied for first place at +2-0=2, in the 2016 Watertown Open Chess Tournament held May 7^th. Chess players from Toronto, Syracuse and Oswego joined with local Jefferson County players in a very competitive tournament that featured several upsets. Mr. Miller held local player Adolfo Prieto to a draw to gain his share of the title. Don Klug upset Toronto visitor Joey Orozco and forced draws with Mr. Prieto and Mr. Miller to help muddle the final standings. Matt O’Connor of Syracuse, playing in just his fifth USCF tournament forced a draw by repetition against local Carthage player Robert Kratzat to further ”muddy” the final standings.
