Three members travel for chess competition
Chess Master Capt. Arthur Macaspac raised his rating back above 2200 with a score of 3-1=0 in the 3RD Saturday Swiss Tournament in Rahway, NJ., which included wins over a Master and an Expert. His loan setback was against Life Master Boris Privman, USCF rated 2350.
Expert Dr. David Kistler increased his rating to USCF 2116 with a performance of +2-2=1 ( a performance of 2175) in the Open Section ( above 2100) of the Cleveland Open. Of note, Dr. Kistler drew with Master rated Maggie Feng, lost to Life Master ( 2473) Ron Burnet and defeated an Expert and highly rated “A” (1976) player. Dr. Kistler also scored 2.0/3 in the Rochester CenterSaturday Tournament August 2, with a record of +1-0=2.
Class “A” player Adolfo Prieto (USCF 1861) scored +1-1=1 in a very difficult section of this weekend’s Rochester Chess Center “Saturday Tournament”, where the average rating was USCF 1936. Mr. Prieto suffered a close loss to Life Master Isay Golyak in round 1. Mr. Prieto ranked just 9th out of 15 players at the beginning of the tournament.
